Wilkes-Barre, PA (June 23, 2009) — Sundance Vacations has been selected as a winner for the 2009 American Business Awards. Sundance Vacations employee Doreen Miller received the Stevie Award for Marketer of the Year.
After a challenging year in business for our country, the 2009 American Business Awards crowned this year’s winners at the Stevie Awards gala at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Sundance Vacations competed against more than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry. The company was considered a finalist in the following categories: Best Overall Company, Fastest Growing Company, Sales Department of the Year, Executive of the Year, Support Staffer of the Year, Marketer of the Year, and Information Technology Executive of the Year. Only one third of all entries were honored as finalists this year.
With approximately 600 executives in attendance, The 2009 American Business Awards honored a diverse cross-section of American business people, corporations, non-profits, and government agencies reflecting every important aspect of business today, from: C-Suite executives to support staff; major public companies to emerging start-ups; customer services teams to corporate communicators.
Stevie Awards are conferred in four programs: The American Business Awards, The International Business Awards, The Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. Honoring companies of all types and sizes and the people behind them, the Stevie’s recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide. Tina is a graduate from Kutztown University with a BS in Education. In addition to her change leadership Tina also enjoys serving as the Chief Editor of the company’s corporate newsletter, “The Owl”. She shares her extensive travel experience and advice on both the Sundance Vacations blog and Facebook on a regular basis.
Although her schedule is sometimes jam packed with family activities she still finds opportunities to volunteer her time and leadership to various charities. She currently serves as Vice President for Family Promise of Carbon County, an organization serving homeless children and their families in that area. She also chairs the Fund Development team for that organization and plans several major fundraising events each year. The Dowd family generously supports many charities including St. Vincent DePaul Soup kitchen, Wyoming Valley Children’s Association, Volunteers of America, the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross and many others. She is a member of the Luzerne Foundation Millennium Circle. Tina is also a former board member for the Northeast Pennsylvania Better Business Bureau and the Lehighton Area School District. Mrs. Dowd loves traveling, and her favorite vacation destination is where she and husband John Dowd spent their honeymoon, Maui, Hawaii.
