Friday, November 3, Leadership Wilkes-Barre and the Alumni Council will host their annual “Leadership on Tap” at the FM Kirby Center lobby in downtown Wilkes-Barre!
The event is a social mixer and a great networking opportunity which will be open to the public. Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 at the door. Admission includes beer and wine tasting, food courtesy of more than a dozen area restaurants. There will also be live music from Kermit Alphonso.
Funds raised benefit LWB scholarships and program development.
There will be $1,000 tickets featuring several chances to win a trip, and they will be for sale at all LWB events through February 3rd 2017, where the winners will be drawn at the Leadership Wilkes-Barre, Mid-Winter Cocktail Party at the Westmoreland Club.
Sundance Vacations donated an 8 night/7 day stay for the beautiful Myrtle Beach/Hilton Head, SC, which is valued at $1,500 for the Auction!
Leadership Wilkes-Barre is an independent, non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status whose mission is to develop informed and committed leaders from all segments of the community who will serve, strengthen and improve Northeastern Pennsylvania. Its original program, Leadership Wilkes-Barre, is a tuition-based community leadership development program for adults. It began in the summer of 1981 when the idea of such a program was presented to a group of community leaders by then Executive Director of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, John Sheehan.
Leadership Wilkes-Barre has six programs: Core, Executive, Junior, Intercollegiate, and our newest program, Impact, for regional primary and secondary teachers.
The programs foster civic engagement of emerging leaders and include them in the Greater Wilkes-Barre community structure. The goal is to seek out future leaders and provide them with the information, skills and training needed to become leaders and active participants in the community. Programs are aimed at a spectrum of participants ranging from adolescents and seniors to mid-career professionals and newcomers to Northeastern Pennsylvania.
There are over 2,000 alumni have graduated from our programs. Many direct or influence the operation of small and large companies and a multitude of nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Each participant strongly believes that Leadership Wilkes-Barre offers invaluable skills, networking opportunities and friendships for a lifetime.
