Sundance Vacations honored as one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania
Wilkes-Barre, Pa (December 2, 2009) Sundance Vacations, a wholesale vacation company, today announced it has been named as one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for 2009. Sundance Vacations finished among the top 30 in the statewide employee poll for large-sized companies (251 or more employees).
The announcement was made during the Best Places to Work in PA dinner held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Pa on December 1st, 2009. “Sundance Vacations provides a stable career for hundreds of PA employees. Despite the current recession, great things are happening at Sundance Vacations – including making the Inc. 500/5000 list of Fastest Growing Companies this year, said Sundance Vacations Founder Tina Dowd. “We’re honored that our employees have also named us as one of the Best Places to Work in PA. We’ll be celebrating these achievements and many more at our annual awards gala in two weeks,” added Dowd.
The statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Places to Work in PA list is comprised of 100 companies split into two groups: 50 medium-sized companies (25-250 employees) and 50 large-sized companies (251 or more employees). “Competition was intense this year. Be very proud of your company making the list.” said Publisher of the Central Penn Business Journal, David Schankweiler.
The awards program, created in 2000, is one of the first of its kind offered in Pennsylvania. The program is a public/private partnership of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Chamber of Business and Industry, the PA Department of Community and Economic Development and the Central Penn Business Journal.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience.
This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process.
