Two employees of Sundance Vacations will participate in the 2012 “Do It For The Kids” Wyoming Valley Children’s Association (WVCA) Walk-A-Thon on April 28, 2012. The Walk-A-Thon will raise money for therapy, education and services for developmentally disabled children in the area. The walk-a-thon will take place at RiverCommons in Wilkes-Barre.
“Our employees have really embraced the challenge of supporting these special children,” says John Dowd, owner of Sundance Vacations. “We’re delighted to support and recognize their participation in this charitable event.”
Courtney Long and Mike Heck, who also volunteered to work on the WVCA’s 5K Run on April 25, will participate in the walk-a-thon. The pair will collect pledges to support the work of the WVCA. Among the services that the WVCA provides are early childhood education, pediatric rehabilitation services for children 12 and under, medical clinic services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The WVCA also provides home-based education instruction, home-based therapy, and service coordination for parents and families who care for developmentally disabled children.
“The WVCA has been a huge part of our community for nearly 100 years,” says Dowd. “It’s a privilege to assist the community in helping to provide care and services for children and their families.”
