Sundance Vacations Announces Winner of Armed Forces & Coast Guard Appreciation Cruise Giveaway Contest

Wilkes-Barre, Pa (June 4, 2010) – Sundance Vacations today announced that Staff Sgt. Robert Vols and his wife Mary Vols of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania are the winners of the Armed Forces and Coast Guard Appreciation Cruise Giveaway Contest. The Armed Forces and Coast Guard Appreciation Cruise Giveaway is the fourth in a series of Facebook contests by Sundance Vacations to give away six free cruises between April and June. Robert’s wife, Mary, nominated her husband for the contest and was chosen as the winner of the free cruise by Sundance Vacations’ Facebook community.

 

Robert, who is a seven year active duty member in the United States Army, served in Iraq for a year, while Mary stayed home to take care of their three children.  Just last year, Robert was deployed to Iraq right after they had their third son. Mary wrote in her nomination essay that “I know how difficult it was for him to be away from our three children. He comes home from work and spends every moment with them until bedtime. I’d love for him to win this cruise, because I don’t know how else to thank him for everything he’s done for us, and this country. His whole world revolves around making his family happy, and we’d like to make him happy.”

 

“You think that when you enter a contest, you won’t win, but this is amazing! We haven’t been on vacation in six years. It is time for a vacation and we will be happy to get away. I want to thank Sundance Vacations and all those on Facebook that voted for Robert. Goodness knows, without their votes, we wouldn’t have won this contest,” said Mary Vols after being told they just won. “Now we just need to find a babysitter!”

 

“Robert is definitely deserving of this cruise for all his hard work serving America. He does so much for the American people and his family. I also believe Mary deserves this just as much, because being a stay-at-home mom is no easy task, especially when your husband is on the other side of the world. They are both strong people, who work extremely hard and deserve this vacation. Everyone at Sundance Vacations will be happy to see them enjoy their cruise,” said Scott Carey, Sundance Vacations Communications Director, who called to award Mary and Robert the prize.    

To nominate someone for one of Sundance Vacations’ free cruises, members of the Sundance Vacations’ Facebook community simply submit a photo of their nominee and a brief essay that explains why that person should win. The nomination period will last two-weeks for each contest and Sundance Vacations’ Facebook friends will have one week to vote for the winner of each contest on the Facebook Fan Page.

Each of the six cruise giveaways is based on upcoming holidays including our current contest for Father’s Day. Nominations for the fifth contest, in honor of Father’s Day, close on June 9 and voting starts on June 10; so join Sundance Vacations’ Facebook Fan Page, tell your friends, and enter now to win!

 Winners of the Sundance Vacations Cruise Giveaway will receive:

Sundance Vacations voucher for a four-day, three-night cruise for two;

Cruise leaves from ports in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, or Los Angeles;

Round-trip airfare for two (not to exceed $800 total) to port city;

One night’s stay in the port city.
