On Saturday, March 23rd, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe hosted a basket raffle and bake sale in support of Bruce Green, who is facing a challenging journey after a CT scan revealed a sizable mass on his left lung. Following his diagnosis of Squamous Cell Carcinoma at St. Luke’s Bethlehem, the community rallied together to assist Bruce and his family with the forthcoming expenses associated with chemotherapy and radiation by making donations to the fundraiser, purchasing goods, and participating in the raffles. It’s important to shed light on the prevalence of Squamous Cell Carcinoma, with statistics from the American Cancer Society underscoring its impact on individuals.

The event featured an array of baked goods, food, drinks, and diverse raffle items, all aimed at raising funds for Bruce’s medical care. Katelynn Ahn, Bruce’s niece and a member of the Sundance Vacations team, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, noting the success of the fundraiser and the positive impact it had on Bruce’s battle. Despite setbacks during treatment, including complications from chemotherapy requiring another hospital stay, there was encouraging news: the tumor had shrunk by approximately 65%. Now, the focus shifted to preparing for surgery to remove the remaining mass.

Acknowledging the 8-day/7-night vacation certificate for Hilton Head Island or Myrtle Beach from Sundance Vacations, Katelynn extended her appreciation to her Sundance family and everyone involved in Bruce’s courageous fight. She emphasized the ongoing importance of prayers, positive vibes, and well wishes.
