Sundance Vacations Donates to Volunteers of America
Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 16, 2009) Sundance Vacations recently donated $2,500 to the local Wilkes-Barre, PA chapter of the Volunteers of America.
The money donated will benefit the 6th Annual Celebrity Dinner VIP Reception and Silent Auction. Joe Theisman, the former quarterback in the National Football League and the Canadian Football League will serve as the guest of honor. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit local youth programs within the Volunteers of America.
Besides the monetary donation, Sundance Vacations employees also collected furniture and 20 bags of clothing for Volunteers of America in March to distribute to their local thrift stores.
Although many companies seem to be in an economic ruin, Sundance Vacations is fortunate to be well positioned in the economy; the company is able to maintain its commitment to the community and numerous charities. Sundance Vacations is always looking for ways to reinvest in their community; Volunteers of America provides that opportunity. Sundance Vacations is unique in that each of the seven national sales locations receives $10,000 annually to distribute to charity. The charity selections are made locally; not mandated by the corporate office. Volunteerism and philanthropy are encouraged and rewarded at Sundance Vacations. The company actively donates to charities such as the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, St. Vincent De Paul’s Soup Kitchen, Ruth’s Place, and Habitat for Humanity.
“Volunteers of America’s work and mission touches thousands of lives. Donating enables our organization to grow and serve more people who rebuild their lives and reach their full potential,” commented Bill Jones, VP and Chief Operating Officer of Volunteers of America of PA.
Look for Sundance volunteers at the upcoming WVIA Annual Travel Auction on April 28. The company will donate a free vacation week accommodation to Hilton Head, or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
